  • A prosthesis over 5 years old!

    If you have been wearing dentures for more than 5 years without consulting your denturist, you are exposing your health to unnecessary risks. What's more, unexpected breakage is more likely to occur after a reasonable period of time. Imagine finding yourself with a fractured denture while travelling abroad? Too many people believe that a prosthesis remains adequate for almost twenty years, but this is not true!

    YOUR FACE CHANGES, your mouth, and jaws transform over the years. A removable prosthesis is made of a solid material that is not malleable. Because it cannot adapt to these physiological changes, and because artificial teeth wear out over time, a prosthesis can only do its job effectively over a period of around five years. This reality has harmful consequences, often invisible and imperceptible, for the wearer of an out-of-date prosthesis.

    Here is a brief list of the most harmful effects that may be experienced by wearers of prostheses more than five years old:

    • A hollowing mouth and premature aging of the face;
    • Unexpected breakage or fracture of the prosthesis,
    • Teeth that come loose, often at unexpected moments, in travel, for example;
    • Softening of the gums;
    • Sore, irritated gums;
    • More difficult to chew and digest;
    • Headaches, earaches, neck and joint problems;
    • Accelerated gum resorption…

    And the list goes on!

    Replacing an old prosthesis with a new one involves a period of transition. Bear in mind that a prosthesis changed in a reasonable amount of time makes it easier to adapt in the mouth, minimizes discomfort and guarantees a discreetly renewed smile.

    Few people take regular care of their dentures. Some even forget to take them out to soak and rest their gums. Don't gamble with your health! Visit your denturist every year for a check-up and follow their recommendations.

  • For the benefit of your prostheses

    The annual check-up, for the benefit of your prostheses.

    Your gums change over time. In other words, the bone in your jaws decreases in volume from year to year. This phenomenon is known as bone resorption. To prevent undesirable effects, such as denture instability or breakage, gum irritation or deterioration, or poor chewing, it is essential to have your dentures checked by your denturist every year. Don't wait until you feel pain or discomfort to consult your denturist. The absence of pain does not always mean that your dentures are right for you.

    An annual examination of your dentures allows your denturist to prevent breakage and detect any current or future problems.

    During this examination, your denturist may also clean and polish your dentures to restore their original lustre. This step makes it easier to clean at home. When you brush your dentures, or because of friction during chewing, the polish on your teeth gradually crumbles and disappears. This can cause tartar to build up and stain your dentures. Your denturist recommends that you have your dentures checked annually for efficiency, durability, aesthetics and, above all, to ensure your well-being. It is better to be safe than sorry.

  • Tooth whitening trays to make at home!

    Whitening for natural teeth is a proven solution for lightening the colour of enamel and dentine. Using a tooth-safe gel containing hydrogen peroxide and urea, thermoformed whitening trays adapt perfectly to your teeth to guarantee uniform whitening, unlike some over-the-counter products which only irritate the gums and mucous membranes without providing optimal results.

    Note that the number of applications may vary depending on the degree of whitening desired, and that the effect obtained may last several months or even years depending on your consumption habits (tea, coffee, red wine, etc.). However, by keeping your personalized whitening trays, you can maintain the radiance of your smile by touching them up as needed.

  • We advise you not to smoke in bed… and to remove your dentures when you sleep…

    Take your dentures out when you go to bed to rest your mouth and let your gums breathe. Soak them overnight in lukewarm water with or without denture cleaner. If your dentures have metal hooks, soak them only in lukewarm water and a suitable cleaning product, as other substances can tarnish the metal. When you're not wearing your dentures, keep them in water to prevent them from drying out. Never put them in bleach, as they could discolour and poison you.
